DPP: Day 31

We enjoyed ringing in the new year with the East coast (7pm here) with our friends the Heaths and the Thompsons! It's still only 9:22 here, but the boys are fast asleep despite it sounding like a warzone outside. Hawaiians love their fireworks! Doubting we would be able to go to sleep even if we tried!

Happy 2013!

Suzy, Nathaniel, and Addie
All the ladies!

DPP: Day 30

We took a little Sunday drive up to the North Shore this afternoon after church to see if we could catch a glimpse of the forcasted 25ft-35ft swells. We were not disappointed! There is really no way to capture in pictures how enormous and powerful these waves were.

The boys admiring the line of foam that a huge wave left behind on the sand...
You see those tiny surfers out there? That gives you a better idea of how tall the waves were!
These guys have seen enough and are ready to get in on the action at Pipeline. They waited patiently for a short lull in the waves and are making a run for it!
This was the sunset over the mountains on our way home this evening. God was really showing off on Oahu today!

DPP: Day 28

Keaton brought his new camera to the zoo today. Granted, the quality is not the best, but I think he has a good eye!

DPP: Day 27

Christmas is over and we are all a little out of sorts here now. Daddy is back to work today, and we're definitely in need of more structure and less sugar. This morning, Keaton told me that I was the only mom in Hawaii that did not allow her kids to eat cookies for breakfast. Wow, I had no idea! I might just have to rethink...wait a minute. Oh, yeah, he just THINKS he knows everything.
Seriously though. Four years old is tough. Especially when you're strong-willed and way too big for your britches like this one is. I may not remember the first time he told me he loved me, but I know I'll never forget today... the first time he told me he hated me. I know he didn't mean it. I could tell in his eyes he regretted it the second it was out, but ouch, man, that hurt.

DPP: Day 26

We went whale watching today at Makapu'u.
As usual, we had plenty of sightings of other people that have seen whales minutes before we arrived, but they evaded us again! We still had fun hiking and enjoying the breathtaking view!
Mark's new binoculars came in handy!
Keaton got this shot with his new camera.

DPP: Day 25

We had such a relaxing, low-key Christmas day.
The boys were up around 6:30. We had cinnamon rolls and opened our gifts and then played all day long.

The new train table was a big hit!
Not sure who was more excited about the Batcave... Daddy or boys?
Watching Keaton's new Lion King movie!

We enjoyed Christmas dinner at the Heaths tonight. All our boys... Keaton (4 1/2), Lucas (5), Edward (19 mos), Mark (2). Buddies!
Mele Kalikimaka from our Ohana!

DPP: Day 24

This morning, we baked some cookies for Santa.
Daddy told us he "heard" that chocolate chip was Santa's favorite!

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at a friends house this evening, and then a candlelight service at church.
Now, Santa and his elf are busy getting everything ready for Christmas morning.
Last year, every gift was unwrapped before 6am. Considering that's less than 7 hours from now, here's hoping they sleep in a little later tomorrow!

DPP: Day 23

My grandmother sent us a gingerbread train and station house that Keaton and I decorated this afternoon.
My little crafty boy was all over this!

Things got silly pretty fast!

"Can we eat it now, Mom?"

DPP: Day 22

This evening, we went down to Daddy's work for some dinner, bike riding, playground playing, and plane watching.
We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over Pearl Harbor.

DPP: Day 21

Keaton slept until 7:15 this morning and the president gave Daddy Monday off!
It feels and smells and sounds and tastes like Christmas around our house.
Only 4 more days, and we are giddy!

DPP: Day 20

He likes to eat his cookies ICING-FIRST!

DPP: Day 19

Only 12 Cubbies today for our last club before Christmas.
We had a blast retelling the Christmas story and decorating more cookies!
Sweet Kai was very proud of his cookies!
Keaton and his buddy, Shane
Love this girl's attitude...

Don't let these sweet smiles fool you.... these girls are a MESS! But I love em... :-)

DPP: Day 18

Our plan for tonight involved going downtown to eat dinner, ride a trolley, and see the lights of Honolulu. But, Mama and Dada decided we didn't really feel like leaving the Windward side tonight, so we settled for the train at the mall across the street. I'm pretty sure the boys never knew the difference!

DPP: Day 17

As a thank you for serving on the ministry team, our church provided 3 hours of free babysitting tonight so that we could have a date night! I enjoyed the kid-free night out with my handsome husband!

DPP: Day 15

Too many favorites today. I just can't narrow it down!
Dear Santa,
Batcave
Coloring books
Eagle Talon (castle)
?
?
Little Mermaid
Lion King
Thanks
Your Friend, Keaton

Guess who showed up at the beach this morning! Keaton was not fooled: "That is not the real Santa!" (who we saw at Windward Mall last night)
Meet Frosty the Sandman
My boys were "little lambs" in our church Christmas play tonight. They did such a great job! Are they not the sweetest little lambs you've ever seen?
I think we wore them out today!
